
The Western Australian Youth Orchestra (WAYO) is the Association's premier ensemble. Recognised as one of the finest youth orchestras in Australia, it features some of the State's most talented young musicians.
Since being founded in 1974, WAYO alumni now occupy significant positions in every major orchestra in Australia. With up to 100 players, WAYO is able to perform the finest in large-scale symphonic works. In 2010 WAYO's repertoire is set to include major classical works and premières of Australian compositions. 2010 activities will feature three major performances at the Perth Concert Hall, including a special July season conducted by Russian maestro Vladimir Verbitsky, and a large-scale outdoor concert at Burswood Park.
2011 activities will feature three major performances at the Perth Concert Hall and two large-scale outdoor concerts. Under the direction of eminent Music Director, Peter Moore OAM and an special international guest conductor for the July season, 2011 is shaping up to be another exciting year. WAYO members will also benefit from extensive tutorial and scholarship programs.
