Mission

To provide quality musical training and performance opportunities for young musicians to enrich their lives and the cultural development of the Western Australian community.

Aims

We aim to offer quality musical experiences through unique performance opportunities, thereby creating an environment in which young people can achieve their musical potential by:

  • Offering opportunities to perform quality orchestral music
  • Providing educational opportunities for young musicians to develop musical and associated skills
  • Providing musical performances to the wider community
  • Developing and maintaining collaborations with other organisations

Strategies

The Association employs quality musicians of national standing as conductors for all ensembles. In addition, tutors are drawn from the ranks of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, the School of Music at The University of Western Australia, and the Classical Music Department at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, and therefore offer tutorial assistance at the highest possible artistic level. Further, conductors of international standard are regularly sought.

Concerts are staged in quality venues such as the Perth Concert Hall, and repertoire, including commissioned Australian works, is carefully selected to offer the maximum educational and performance benefits to players across all ensembles. The Association is also flexible and designs its performance strategies to meet the needs of the occasion, players and the audience.
